An application example from D+D+M / pcn.global

When a new standard is introduced there is always a kind of chicken-egg problem. In the case of smartPCN the recipients of PCN and PDN would highly benefit from a digital format. However the manufacturers who have to create PCN/PDN have their own tools and processes and are usually not so much interested to change them. If nobody provides smartPCN then nobody wants to create tools to process them.

This is the reason we created the pcn.global database. To stay in the picture from above we are the chicken that produces smartPCN data from classic PCN/PDN provided by the manufacturers, our food. We accept all types of PCN/PDN also from our customers to transfer them into smartPCN.

Of course it is great to have an egg, but in order to consume it, you need a transport from the chicken to your breakfast table. This is the role of pcn.cockpit.

PCN/PDN management with smartPCN is so much easier than any other method before:

• All data is machine readable and categorized according to the smartPCN standard
• The pcn.cockpit receives every night the updated list of all PCN/PDN with all the part numbers and additional information
• The pcn.cockpit compares the part numbers of your components with the part numbers within the smartPCN data and shows every morning the results
• You have full control about your data because pcn.cockpit is running on your premises, we do not see any of your part numbers or other information
• Based on the matching results you decide which PCN/PDN to download from pcn.global into the local database of your pcn.cockpit
• The pcn.cockpit displays all part numbers and the products (Bill of Material) the PCN/PDN is related to
• With easy to create and use workflows you send this information to all the parties in the company, who have the provide feedback about the impact and possible measures
